About Laurentian Camp Cherith
Proceeds from the 1 Under The Son beach volleyball tournament go toward supporting Laurentian Camp Cherith, a non-profit, non-denominational Christian summer camp that has been ministering to children in the greater Ottawa area since 1948. Laurentian Camp Cherith is affiliated with the Pioneer Clubs children's ministry and is a registered Ontario charity. We provide exciting skills-based activities, outdoor programs, and spiritual development for boys and girls ages 8 to 16. Activities include archery, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, guitar lessons, hiking, nature discovery, survival skills, woodworking, newspaper, movie making, and many more. A leadership development program is also available for older campers.
Since 1969, Laurentian Camp Cherith has rented a lakefront campsite near Wakefield, Quebec. In 2008, the camp purchased its own 166-acre property along the Clyde River in the Lanark Highlands region of Ontario. Our goal is to develop enough infrastructure to operate at this new location as early as the summer of 2009. Over the long term we look forward to running even more camp sessions in each summer and providing a unique and exciting camping ministry to children and youth in the Ottawa area and surroundings.
